Maximum driving comfort with automatic transmissions from Audi
Audi continually invests in the further development of the types of transmissions it offers and always achieves effective technology and the best driving comfort. Mostly it remains a question of philosophy, whether one should drive an automatic or manual transmission; but to be sure: no one has to miss out on sportiness and comfort with Audi. Audi offers three different kinds of automatic transmission technology: S tronic, multitronic and tiptronic.
The Audi technology used for automatic transmissions makes for an even more comfortable and easy driving experience. The torque converter for automatic transmissions is especially advantageous in stop-and-go traffic and for commuters. The Audi S tronic, for example, excites with its efficiency and sportiness. The dual-clutch transmission enables quick shifting with no noticeable interruption of traction. The shifting of gears is effected within just a few hundredths of a second: the driving experience remains dynamic and smooth. In the manual mode, the driver can actively shift gears by using the shift paddle on the steering wheel.
TDI – the innovative diesel engine from Audi
Performance, power and efficiency – that’s the innovative Audi TDI diesel engine motor in three words. The engineers at Audi were the first worldwide to introduce the TDI engine in a passenger car as early as 1989. With direct fuel injection, turbocharging and high torque across the entire range of RPMs, the extraordinary success of this economical family of engines still persists today.
Whether Audi A1, A4 or A6, every Audi model is also available with a TDI engine and offers the choice of different TDI variations at different levels of performance among the models. And now it is possible to drive in an even more environmentally-friendly way thanks to modern TDI clean diesel technology.
In spite of nearly identical performance among gas-powered and diesel engines as well as the higher sticker price of a diesel car, TDI engines are arguably the better choice, considering their better mileage and utmost efficiency – especially for driving long distances and for all the larger models.
